Towards the end of last year, there was much talk online about 2016 being possibly the worst year ever! However, the Maps International team has had much to celebrate over the last 12 months, and we’re heading into 2017 on a positive note, by giving a nod to the achievements we have been most proud of over the last 12 months.
Here are just some of our 2016 highlights…
Helping Not on the High Street celebrate 10 years
Last year marked the 10th anniversary of the launch of Not On The High Street. Maps International has been a partner for 6 of those years and we reached the milestone of over 30,000 orders through the site in 2016, so we were happy to celebrate with them.
New products and old favourites
Over the last 12 months we’ve launched some exciting new map products that we are immensely proud of, including a stunning collection of bespoke antique map wedding stationery, a colourful range of city street prints, and our terrifying Mythical Monster Map. We also extended our range of best-selling Scratch the World Prints.
Winning Theo Paphitis’ Small Business Sunday
In May 2016, Maps International was chosen as a Small Business Sunday (SBS) Winner by Dragon’s Den regular, Theo Paphitis. SBS is an initiative set up to recognise and gain exposure for smaller UK businesses, with new winners every week.
Maps on film!
You may have spotted our products popping up in TV shows and ads in 2016 without even realising it! Our Executive World Map featured in BBC2 drama, Line of Duty, while our Blue Ocean Map Mural played a starring role in the Mastercard ‘Your World’ ad.
In the press
During 2016 we were lucky enough for our products to be mentioned in – and loved by – some of our favourite home and interiors publications, including The English Home, 25 Beautiful Homes, Period Homes & Interiors, and Homes & Antiques, as well as a festive mention in Cosmopolitan UK. Our star Christmas products in the press included our Antique World Map Canvas and our London City Street Print.
Feeling the map love
We were seriously feeling the map love last year, with mentions in some amazing travel and lifestyle blogs, including Beyond Blighty, She Gets Around, Where’s Mollie and A La Jode, featuring best loved products such as our Text Art Map Canvas, Scratch the World, and our Travel Quote prints. We were also blown away to discover that Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, had chosen our Animal Map of the World print to display in his baby daughter’s nursery.
Maps International had many reasons to be proud in 2016, and we hope to do it all again this year! Wishing all of our followers and customers a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2017!
